Zumo Smoothie Bars International is delighted to announce the opening of our very first bar in China! Our new bar is located at the Expo in Shanghai and opened to the public on Sunday June 6th 2010.

The bar at the Shanghai Expo, which marks Zumo’s first foray in to the Chinese market, will operate with a limited menu and will trade until the Expo finishes on October 31st of this year. However by then Zumo hope to have a permanent home in Shanghai. And the expansion won’t stop there, as the European leader hopes to open three further bars in Shanghai over the next six months.

Franchisee Michael Liang said “I was studying in Ireland and became a regular customer of Zumo in some of the Dublin branches. I started to think of how there was nothing really like Zumo back in China. Once I’d graduated from college I began to make enquiries about franchising opportunities that were available. So when I eventually did get back to China, I was able to bring Zumo with me. The bar at the expo is a showcase for us in China and before the year is out I hope to have two permanent bars open, with more to come in the new year”.
